aroch

The AROCH program (Action de Renforcement des Organisations Culturelles Haitiennes), funded through the European Union as part of its civil society strengthening program, began in April 2020 with the following objectives:

  • Strengthening the professional capacities of cultural operators and sound and light technicians
  • Strengthening the operational capacities of organizations through the staging of their cultural events
  • Promoting women to decision-making positions
Raising awareness of eco-responsible management of cultural events
  • Building professional networks

In 2 years, the AROCH program has achieved the following results:
17 organizations working in various cultural sectors have benefited from financial support for the organization of their cultural event and/or the strengthening of their activities, from technical and administrative follow-up, and their representatives have received, where appropriate, training in Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, Cap Haïtien and Cayes (with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Haiti), in administrative and accounting procedures, event organization, sound and light techniques, backed up by 3 didactic manuals or reference documents.

AROCH in figures:

  • 23 cultural projects (dance, visual arts, music, theater/forum theater, photography, film, and video) have been strengthened through their structures.
  • 140 professionals nationwide benefited from training in cultural management and administrative and accounting procedures in Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtian, Jacmel and Les Cayes (with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Haiti).
  • 37 sound and lighting professionals, selected nationally, from 5 departments, on 3 levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced), benefited from technical training and practical internships in Haiti (PAPJAZZ), and in France.
  • 40% of beneficiary operators are women.
Most of the events benefiting from the project have integrated at least 1 eco-responsible principle into the implementation of their activity, by replacing paper promotional elements with dematerialized promotional elements on social networks.
  • 4 networks have been set up: 1 general AROCH network, 1 network specific to Jacmel, 1 network specific to Cap Haïtien, and 1 other network through the Zikonnect project (monetization and promotion of online music) through Ayiti Mizik. In all, nearly 200 operators, artists and organizations are networked and sharing information.
