60 YEARS OF RADIO PRODUCTION AND JAZZ ICON IN HAITI
On the eve of his 80th birthday, his peers, family and friends paid an exceptional musical tribute to Herby Widmaier bringing together several generations of musicians from Haiti and abroad. Born in Port-au-Prince in 1933, the late Herbert Widmaier was a jazz icon in Haiti. Composer, sound engineer, filmmaker in his own time, radio man, and founder of Radio Métropole, he had innovated, if not revolutionized, this field in Haiti. With more than half a century dedicated exclusively to Haitian broadcasting, advertising, film and music, Herby Widmaier has had an undeniable impact in all these areas. As a technician, he was unquestionably a legend.
